A reported $6.6 billion, 20-year data-center lease hit the tape on July 14, 2026 at 10:05:06 UTC, or 6:05:06 a.m. ET, and CleanSpark shares whipsawed rather than moving in one direction: CLSK printed $14.0526 one minute later, 4.728% below the $14.75 reference from two minutes before the event, then closed at $14.5884 at 15 minutes, 3.281% above the $14.125 event price.

What crossed: a reported lease, then company confirmation

The timestamped headline said CleanSpark had agreed to a $6.6 billion, 20-year data-center lease, attributing the report to Bloomberg. A Bloomberg report published July 14, 2026 described the agreement as a lease at the Sandersville, Georgia campus. CleanSpark's July 14 company release and its July 14 Form 8-K confirmed the transaction. The filing says the lease was entered on July 10.

The terms require precision. CleanSpark described $6.6 billion as expected contracted revenue across the initial 20-year term, not an upfront payment. The triple-net lease covers infrastructure supporting 175 MW of critical IT load and includes two five-year extension options. The tenant remains unnamed. The 8-K also says CleanSpark must meet financing, construction and delivery milestones; missed milestones may lead to rent abatements or lease termination.

The first-minute drop did not define the reaction

The tape sequence contains two relevant reference points. CLSK traded at $14.75 two minutes before the event and at $14.125 at the event timestamp. One minute later, it was $14.0526. That was 4.728% below the earlier $14.75 reference and below the $14.125 event price. The distinction matters because describing the move simply as a 4.73% post-headline fall would overstate the decline that occurred after the timestamp.

By 15 minutes, the move had reversed

At 10 minutes, CLSK closed at $14.22: 3.593% below the two-minute reference but 0.673% above the event price. At 15 minutes, the observation was $14.5884, or 3.281% above the event price. The last available observation, at 16 minutes, was $14.63, up 3.575% from the event price. The clean read is a brief post-timestamp dip followed by a reversal above the release level, while the stock remained below the earlier $14.75 print through the measured window.

No peer basket was captured

The reaction evidence contains no peer rows. That prevents a defensible comparison with other Bitcoin miners, data-center operators, AI-infrastructure names, Bitcoin or broader technology assets. No claim about sector breadth, opposite-direction moves or cross-asset confirmation belongs in the public read without additional observations.

A signed lease advanced an existing data-center pivot

CleanSpark had already framed Sandersville and Texas as commercialization priorities. In its June 4, 2026 operational update, the company said it was progressing AI data-center financing and commercialization efforts at those locations. The July lease therefore advanced that narrative from stated commercialization work to a signed contract, while leaving the tenant identity, project financing and milestone execution unresolved.

The later session remains outside the observed window

Price coverage ends at 10:21 UTC, 16 minutes after the headline timestamp. No 30-minute, one-hour, two-hour, four-hour or six-hour observation is available here, so the later session cannot be described as confirmation, fade or renewed selling. The measured evidence supports only the early whipsaw and 15-minute reversal; it does not support a forecast or a claim that the lease alone caused the full session move.
